June Worship Kits Friday, June 4, 2021
for those participating online
Worship kits for June will be distributed curbside on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 4 - 7 PM at La Trinidad UMC (300 San Fernando St.). The kits will include consecrated communion in pre-sealed cups for use during the live broadcast on Sunday, June 6. Communion will also be offered using "Celebration Cups" in the in-person services on Sunday.
Worship In-Person or Online
Due to very high compliance rates with vaccination (nearing 100% among adults), La Trinidad UMC resumed in-person Worship and Sunday School activities in May. Approximately 1/3 of the congregation has returned to in-person worship with the other 2/3 continuing to participate online. Those who do attend in-person are faithfully using face coverings when not in singing or speaking roles. Sewer service has been restored to the basement and foyer areas of the church.
The reorganized Sunday School classes have seen strong participation, higher than before the pandemic, with all four adult classes, Scripture Seekers, Contemporary Adult, Spanish, and Men's Class, each with enrollment over 10 students, and children and youth classes continuing weekly.

Apportionments (also known as "benevolences") are the way United Methodist local churches share responsibility for the connectional ministries of the denomination and its missions. These expenses are shared in proportion to the expenditures of each church as compared to the total expenditures of all churches. At La Trinidad UMC, these expenses are typically paid in ten installments over ten months. This year, La Trinidad UMC was able to complete full payment in May. The church will continue receiving the official and five-star special offerings throughout the year (extra-mile giving).
Estate Gift to Benefit Trustees, Music
La Trinidad UMC recently received a gift of over $100,000 provided by the estate of Mr. Henry Ramos. Mr. Ramos was active at La Trinidad in his youth before moving out of state. He maintained friendships here in San Antonio and included La Trinidad UMC in his estate plan. A portion of the gift was designated to strengthening the church's music ministry, and the church's committee on finance designated the remainder toward the ongoing work of renovations in the church facility.
A significant part of this gift was funded through a charitable annuity, a financial instrument allowing an individual to receive income in life while designating a charity as beneficiary upon death without the complications of probate court.
