On Sunday, October 3, 2021, La Trinidad UMC will join congregations around the world in celebrating World Communion Sunday. World Communion Sunday recognizes that the practice of Holy Communion transcends national and denominational differences. Within the UMC, World Communion Sunday also is an opportunity to participate in one of the denomination wide special offerings serving scholarships for ethnic minority students and chaplains. La Trinidad will receive greetings from around the world.
Communion will be offered at both the 9 AM and 11 AM on-site worship services on Sunday October 3. Communion will also be offered curbside from 10-12 AM the previous day (Saturday, October 2, 2021). Those picking up communion curbside are encouraged to contact Pastor Raquel Feagins prior to pickup.
Through confirmation baptized young people encounter the doctrines and spiritual heritage of Christianity and make a personal decision to profess the Christian faith and become professing members of the local church. Those who are not baptized may also participate and are baptized even as they are confirmed.
The next confirmation class will be meeting to organize on Saturday, October 23, at 10:00 A.M. at the La Trinidad UMC Church facility. Confirmation is open to young persons currently in 7th grade to 12th grade. For more information, please contact Pastor Raquel Feagins (210) 445-6706 or Pastor John Feagins (210) 326-4996.

Community Family Altar
in Church Gym
October 31 - November 7
All Saints' Day, November 1, is a time when Christians remember those who have professed and lived the Christian faith and now rest from their labors in God's eternal presence.
With consideration for the difficulties and losses faced by families during the pandemic, La Trinidad UMC will be conducting a special observance for All Saints' in 2021.
Church families are invited to help convert the church gymnasium into a community family altar that will be open for meditation and prayer throughout the week of October 31-November 7.
Each 8 foot table will be divided into four spaces that can accommodate standard cardboard display boards. Church families reserving these spaces are encouraged to prepare colorful commemorative displays honoring their loved ones. Displays can include photos, art, memories and other items symbolic of our loved ones. Please reserve your space by contacting Pastor John Feagins at firstname.lastname@example.org. One space will be available per family.
The community family altar will be opened with a special worship service on All Saints Day, November 1, at 6:00 P.M. in the church gym. The community altar will remain in place until after the All Saints Sunday worship services on November 7, after which church families will be asked to retrieve their displays.
The community family altar will be assembled the afternoon of October 31 with the church gym open immediately following the 11 AM service until 5 PM.
The La Trinidad worship committee and friends will also be decorating the gym in preparation. Please contact Connie Silva to volunteer and receive instructions on how to contribute.
As part of this observance, we will also be receiving donations toward the purchase of a grave marker for the resting place of Delia Cadena who passed away in April of 2016. Special gifts can be labeled "Delia Cadena Memorial." Any amount received in excess of the $1500.00 required will be dedicated to church missions.
La Trinidad UMC is blessed to welcome Marta Ek as our new Wesley Nurse. Marta will be undergoing training over the next 2-3 months as she prepares for community and parish nursing through the partnership of Methodist Healthcare Ministries with La Trinidad UMC.
COVID Conditions Improving
La Trinidad UMC has shown exceptional compliance with COVID-19 protocols throughout the pandemic. We are grateful to those who have made sacrifices to keep others safe during recent spikes in infection rates due to the Delta Variant and a lack of vaccination. At present, the City of San Antonio Metro Health reports improving conditions with a "moderate" level of risk of COVID infection.
La Trinidad UMC reopened for on-site worship in May and will continue offering worship both in-person and online. Masks remain mandatory for on-site activities at the church, and participants are encouraged to continue practicing caution and enhanced hygiene. The church kitchen is being prepared for use again by small ministry and fellowship groups.
The online broadcast of the church worship services will continue to serve those who join from remote locations, are homebound or caring for homebound, who have work or other schedule conflicts, and those who are isolating due to protocols of COVID-19.
Safe Gatherings Online
La Trinidad UMC participates in the Rio Texas Conference "Safe Gatherings" program to assist in training and certifying volunteers and staff who work with youth, children, and vulnerable adults. Safe Gatherings training is helpful to all church members, providing common standards, approved practices, and consistent expectations within a culture of transparency, mutual accountability and reduced risk to those who serve and those who are served.
Participants in safe gatherings embrace a commitment to be held accountable to work together with other un-related adults when in contact with children, youth or vulnerable adults. They intentionally avoid situations and behaviors that provide opportunity for misconduct, manipulation, "grooming," and abuse and know where and how to report such behaviors if they occur.
Individuals who serve as volunteers with the La Trinidad UMC children and youth program may obtain a voucher toward the cost of certification and training. Please contact Pastor Raquel at email@example.com.
