Tis' the Season

As we enter the busy Holiday Season it is important to keep the reason for the season in mind. Setting your family's focus on Christ at both Thanksgiving and Christmas will help to alleviate some of the stress that inevitably arises.

Be sure to think about who your children are and what activities might negatively effect them. Children need consistency and to know what to expect.  They watch and learn from you.  When you are stressed, they will become stressed too. When you are relax, they will sense that everything is ok and will also relax.

Some suggestions to help your family remain focused on Christ during the season might be to get an advent calendar that tells a part of the Christmas story each day. Or maybe now is the time to look over the Christmas cards you received last year and included the sender in your evening prayers. How about having a family movie night each week?

Most importantly, be aware of your stress level so that you can control it and it doesn't control you.
Saturday, November 19th.

Help us pass the word about the Arts & Crafts Extravaganza held at Matthews United Methodist.

The vendor fees collected along with the proceeds from the Silent Auction and the Bake Sale will be donated to COSKids.

This is the third year that COSKids has been the main benefactor from the sale.
Baked goods are needed for Bake Sale, as part of the Arts & Crafts Extravaganza.  Follow this link to sign-up to bake.

Baked goods may be dropped off in the Main Office of COSKids on Friday, November 18th.  Please mark them for the ACE Bake Sale.

New Accounting System

Beginning on January 1st, COSKids will begin using ProCare for accounting. We believe that this new software will be a better fit for our needs.

There are a few changes that we need families to begin planning for:
  • We will no longer have credit card machines in the office or library.
  • All families are strongly encouraged to sign-up for auto-payment through Tuition Express (details will be provided).
  • We will no longer be using Paypal to accept payments.
  • There will be an online portal where families can pay through Tuition Express if you choose not to sign up for auto-pay.
  • Cash and checks will continue to be accepted at both the Main Office, but we strongly encourage you to use auto-payment
Responding to Biting
in the Toddlers and Twos

Unfortunately biting is a reality in the 12 - 36 month ages. COSKids' staff works hard to prevent biting, hitting, pushing and all negative behaviors.

Click the link to read excellent information from the CSEFEL program on biting.

Thank you for bringing a
3-Ring Binder

for your child's portfolio.

staff updates
With hellos, come goodbyes.

A BIG GOODBYE came this month when Ms. Karen decided to take a job full-time with one of the companies that she coaches volleyball with.

Ms. Karen has been at COSKids for close to 16-years. Karen's desire was to exit quietly. We wish her the very best in this new adventure.
____________

We also said good-bye to Ms. Kelly (Crawlers) and Ms. Johanne (Eagles).
Teacher of the Month
October

Jennifer DiMola

Congratulations! You can always expect 200% from Ms. Jennifer. She puts her whole heart into her classroom, her students and all elements of her job. Ms. Jennifer is always willing to help out her co-workers and step in, in a pinch.
COSKids welcomes

Karen Fincher
to the family.

Ms. Karen is a mom of two boys. For the past 5 years she has worked as an Assistant Teacher in an NCPre-K Program.  She brings a great deal of knowledge of working with 4 and 5 year olds to COSKids. She will be working with Ms. Tawanda and Ms. Anna in the Eagles Classroom.
COSKids welcomes

Faith Helms
to the family.

Ms. Faith is a mom of two little ones who will also be joining us at COSKids.  Faith has 3 years of experience working in the deli at a local store.  She will be working with Ms. Sha'Donna in the mornings in the kitchen and then with the Cubs classroom in the afternoons.
COSKids welcomes

Daniesha Freeman
to the family.

Miss Daniesha moved to Charlotte from Pittsburg in 2016, where she worked in childcare for the past 10+ years. She is currently enrolled at CPCC, taking Childcare Credential classes required to work in Childcare in North Carolina.  Miss Daniesha, who also goes by DeeDee, will be working in the Busybee Classroom in the afternoons.

Christmas Shopping!

If you shop online, try using:

Smile.Amazon.com

It is the same Amazon, same prices, same deals, but you can select a favorite non-profit, such as Christ Our Shepherd Ministries (COSKids) to have a portion of your purchase donated to.
FACEBOOK

COSKids has a CLOSED FB group for current families of COSKids. To view the page you must request to be a member of the group. This is where our teachers will upload pictures of classroom activities. When you first go into the page you will need to request membership. Generally it will take us 24 hours.
Remind 101

Take time to sign up for text messages and reminders from COSKids. Simply text @COSKids to 81010 and you will receive infrequent messages that are important, such as closing reminders or emergencies that effect the whole campus.

Change in Status ~

COSKids requires a two week notice if your status is changing (ie., you are leaving, you need to change the number of days attending). Please notify the office of any changes.

Comments? Suggestions? Thoughts?

We welcome feedback to help us continue serving you, the families of COSKids, in the best ways possible. Feel free to stop by the office for a chat or drop a suggestion in the suggestion box on the bookshelf in the hallway of the Main Building.
