No. 043: From Tinsletown to the boogie down.

So, this year has wrapped and I'm compelled to do some kind of "best of the year" thing. While there were a ton of great articles and content shared this year, I've had so much fun doing monthly music playlists. And so, below, it's my "Best of 2015" list on Spotify.

First things: from the absolute bottom of my existence, I want to thank you for subscribing, for reading, for providing feedback, for emailing me responses/rebuttals/questions/criticisms/comments/challenges/suggestions/tips/links. The most fun I’ve had doing this newsletter has been when you all engage with me - literally in any way. If you read it: I am thrilled. I mean that so sincerely.

So here it is. My favorite music of 2015.

GREG’S PLAYLIST - BEST OF 2015 [Spotify]

It’s the stuff that I found, that friends shared, that somehow ended up in a YouTube playlist or else a random radio show at 3 in the morning. The stuff that soundtracked grand moments and subtleties alike. The stuff that the staff of an annoying music blog loved but then also stuff that you (and I) begrudgingly fell in love with.

Here's what you'll find, broken down:

  • My favorite new music of this year. That makes up a bulk of the playlist. And there are so many incredible tracks. Whatever you like, I promise it’s there, and you know it’s good.
  • Those gems, new and old, that some of my trusted music confidants (and beyond) recommended. Looking at you, RRG, Byrd, RG, Salty Dog (where's Clone?).
  • Songs that are for some reason perpetually stuck in my head
  • Tracks that, god damnit, that I wish I knew about long ago
  • And there are some repeat artists or a few albums that are represented multiple times - those artists are probably just that good

Greg’s Newsletter will be back in January 2016. Until then, enjoy the tunes, enjoy your holidays, and stay cool.
