British Dressage Young Horse Forum

In January Mount St. John hosted a sell out British Dressage Northern Young Horse Convention. Guest speakers and judges Jennie Lauriston Clarke, Paul Hayler and Paul Fielder presented an excellent day, with two horses to demonstrate each age from 4 - 7 years old to discuss what judges are looking for at the vaporous ages and also display test riding.

Our own Lucinda Elliott rode three horses in the convention; 4 year old MSJ Soul Sister (Sir Donnerhall x For Compliment), 5 year old Mount St. John Daytona (Detroit x Ehrenwort), and 6 year old MSJ Top Secret. We were very proud of them all, each of our mares individually received some great compliments from the judges with lots of 8's and 9's but we are also have tips for bits to refine and develop ahead of the young horse competition season due to commence in a couple of months.

Thank you to the BD team behind this event, we can't wait for the season ahead fully inspired now!

Following their progress......

It's always a pleasure to visit MSJ bred horses to see how they're growing up. In January Emma Blundell visited MSJ Distinction (Dimaggio x Caprimond), who is the gorgeous 4 year old full brother to Woodlander Dornroeshen. Last year Dornroeshen was shortlisted for the Team GB Rio Olympics with Micheal Eilberg, and previously she was best known as being the dam of Double Young Horse World Champion Woodlander Farrouche!

This exciting young stallion is full of the family character and looks gorgeous under Greg, the young horse rider at the Eilberg's. Troy as he's known in the stable is one of 3 MSJ babies growing up at Pink Green Farm with the Eilberg's and we are very excited to follow how they all develop for the future.

Atterupgaard's Dallara tops the Danish Warmblood mare index
Atterupgaards Dallara
Atterupgaards Dallara

The gorgeous Atterupgaard's Dallara (Sandro Hit x Caprimond x Donnerhall) who joined us for breeding 2 years ago, topped the Danish Warmblood mare index ranking for the 4th consecutive year!

This index is based upon the individual mare's performance, as well as that of her immediate family and her offspring, which combine together to make a total score suggesting their breeding potential. It's no surprise Dallara produced us two stunning colts in 2016 by Negro and De Niro both born by embryo transfer.

We can't wait to see the Danone foal she is expecting this season.

Winter Regionals
The past three weeks has seen the Mount St John mares come away with seven Regional titles between Novice to Medium.

Double Northern Regional Champions, Lucinda Elliott and Mount St John Diva  Dannebrog (Don Schufro x Brentano II) won their Novice and Elementary Regionals at Bishop Burton. Diva Dannebrog had two foals herself (the first of which called Zoom bred by DMJ horses recently became premium Hannoverian and Westfalian licensed stallion), before we restarted her under saddle aged 6.5, she is now after a full year back in training getting fit and we're very excited to see how she develops for the future.

Lucinda Elliott on MSJ Top Secret (Totilas x Dacaprio) won the Elementary North West Regionals with the highest score of the day on 72.5%, as well as the Novice Regionals on 74.17% with 5 year old Mount St. John Daytona. Daytona is by Detroit and out of Ehrendame (Ehrenwort x World Cup) who we purchased in foal. Daytona's one year older sister Deevoice was the 2014 National 3 year old Champion Mare of Germany and is now training at Helgstrand Dressage.

The Mount St John team headed home from the Scottish regionals with another Double Champion on board. Mount St. John Furstin Fugger (Furst Heinrich x Weltmeyer) won her Medium with 71.89 and then aced her final regionals ride to also win the Elementary with 75.05%.

Lastly the gorgeous Mount St John VIP had a great day at Summerhouse Winter Regionals winning the Elementary Gold with 77.1% beautifully ridden and produced by Charlotte Dujardin.

We are so proud of all the mares who already all have foals on the ground born by embryo transfer and are expecting more this season.
