A Word from Our President
Happy Holidays to all!
It is great to see all of the new members to Indiana Masters Teams! Don't forget to renew your membership so that you do not miss out on some great sponsor discounts!
This year, we are welcoming 3 new Indiana Masters Teams so far - Faith Masters Swim Club, Sea Dragons Masters Swimming, and the Viper Aquatics Masters Program. This will be a great year for GRIN!
Please see the article below regarding the newly updated GRIN By-Laws. It was a long process, but By-Laws Committee members from all over Indiana came together to form the new detailed guidelines for the LMSC to follow.
Your new GRIN Executive Board (Lisa Brown - Chair, Meg Carlson - Vice-Chair, Susan Pollard - Treasurer, and Karen Gernert - Secretary) has been learning these new roles. Now that the By-Laws are completed, we are ready to handle the next step - a rerun election of our seats. This new election is a result of the grievance that was submitted last spring. The new Executive Board election process will start immediately and will follow the new GRIN By-Laws, Section 6.9. The Call for Nominations is the first step and is detailed below.
Thank you to all that are serving on the Board at this time, I certainly hope that the current Board runs for office again, as you are wonderful in your GRIN volunteer positions! There are some committee positions that may be open after the election, so we will have ways for everyone to stay involved!
We are looking forward to growing and developing GRIN into the powerhouse of swimming that we are! I will be contacting each club to see what you may need or would like to see in order to help grow your group.
In January 2016, I will be attending the Adult Learn-to-Swim Training in Dallas, after which I will be conducting Adult Learn-to-Swim Clinics in and around Indiana, so YOU and YOUR TEAM can generate more interest and income by teaching adults to swim!
Have a wonderful holiday season and we will see you in the pool!
Lisa L. Brown
Call for Nominations
Per our new By-Laws, a special election for the GRIN Officers will be held. The following positions are up for election: Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Any GRIN member in good standing may run for one of the Officer positions provided they are nominated by a Club Representative and have their nomination seconded by another Club Representative. Each Club Representative may not make more than one nomination per office (either by initial nomination or second), but may make nominations for each office (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer). Nominations shall provide electronic contact information for the nominee and must be submitted to the GRIN Secretary by February 1, 2016.
Prior to March 1, the Secretary shall confirm that each nominee is willing to serve if elected. The Secretary shall also solicit background information from each nominee pertinent to the position being considered and publish the biographical information in the GRIN newsletter. The Club Representatives will then vote on the slate of candidates at the Election Meeting and the new Executive Board will be announced at the 2016 GRIN State Meet.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2016 Irv Merritt Award. Please submit your nominations to Karen Gernert by January 31.
