BLACK LIVES MATTER

This powerful piece is dedicated to 12-year-old Tamir Rice who was fatally shot by a police officer in November 2014. This is a devastating memory to remind us of the context of our current events.
Black Lives Matter.
De Buck Gallery will always continue to celebrate Black voices, to stand with the Black community, and to give a platform to work that highlights injustice.

HIBA SCHAHBAZ
In Solitude
De Buck Gallery Online Viewing Room

Last week, we had the pleasure of having Hiba Schahbaz take over our Instagram as part of our De Buck Gallery Voices series. As we are all still observing shelter-in-place requirements in New York, we hope to continue to share our programming with you via Voices, which also includes artist-made videos documenting their practice.

We'd like to share some of the Voices content with you, in which artist Hiba Schahbaz discusses the set of works she's been creating in quarantine for De Buck's most recent solo exhibition, In Solitude, and her practice from her perspective. "In Solitude" can be viewed in our online viewing room.

RONALD JACKSON
Songs of Stories Untold
De Buck Gallery Online Viewing Room

Songs of Stories Untold is an evocative collection of paintings by Virginia-based artist, Ronald Jackson. Looming large above the viewer, eyes gaze out of history and into the present with faces partially shaded by surreal, brightly patterned masks. Jackson’s figures function not as portraits of specific individuals, but rather as symbolic windows into a collective of shared human experiences, memories and narratives of African American culture.

Below we would like to share a Voices feature with the artist, Ronald Jackson. "Songs of Stories Untold" can be viewed in our online viewing room.
