Authors are Important; So Are Readers
For Authors: Raising print prices to pay authors
While I'm a small publisher, I'm also an author, so it's important to me that authors get paid. I was saddened to see the latest survey showing that the income for US authors fell below the federal poverty line. Most of my published books pass profits of retail sales directly on to the authors... but I realized that for each print book, there's an average of $1 profit... and sometimes much less.
That's not a lot of money to send to authors.
So I've decided that in one week - 3 October 2015 - I will be raising the retail price of all Alliteration Ink print titles by US$1.
For Readers: Digital book prices and bundles
But readers are important too. Which is why eBook prices are staying the same. This is about making sure that authors are compensated and that I have the ability to keep publishing awesome books for you.
I'm also adding in a template with print books to make it clear that every print book comes bundled with the eBook for free through the Shelfie app. With that app, you can claim the eBook version of the book for free. You can see the template below.
If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact me at steven [at] alliterationink.com, and thank you for your continued support of authors and small publishers.
