2014 Spelling Bee at AS220
What's Happening Tomorrow

Hello all.

You may have noticed that it's been a little quiet around here lately. It's not because I accidentally confused Geena Davis and Barbara Hershey while describing Beetlejuice at the drive-in two weeks ago, although I did do that. (Sorry.)

Regular weekly emails will return on November 1st.

In the meantime, I'd like to plug one event happening tomorrow that I'm very excited about. I've run the literary events organization Not About The Buildings since 2006, and this is a grand finale of sorts.

Friday - 8:30PM
Not About The Buildings Spelling Bee
AS220, 115 Empire Street
$7 to spell, free to watch

It’s the ninth (and last!) Not About The Buildings Spelling Bee. The first 36 spellers to sign up will compete for prizes from FirstWorks, Craftland, Providence Comics Consortium, Girls Rock! Rhode Island, and lots more. Also a crown, assuming that Savers hasn't sold out of crowns already. Kath Connolly and JP Reader will be at the judges' table, Jason Tranchida will be taking bets in the corner, and two-time bee champ Mark Sawtelle [pictured above] is guest editing this year’s word list. I’ll be on stage, putting words into a sentence. Last chance, folks! The Bee starts at 9:00, but interested spellers should arrive at 8:30.
