WHAT'S UP

First to share....
The small quilt H is for Hillary
was a thank you of sorts and started with me cutting up a too-small shirt. Repurposed was a bit of a theme, and that shiny orange jacquard fit the bill, considering I picked it up from the free table at a recent guild meeting. Do you see the quilt is made of 'H' blocks? They were super fun and obviously a major design feature.
And then there was the Forage Bag, which was happily made in one evening. Seemed like the perfect use for that Maker fabric I'd been hoarding, and I've been enjoying using it every day since.

WORTH A READ

GOTTA LOVE IT!

Just couldn't resist another round-up of things I love from fellow makers in our community!

The photoshoot! The Neitherlands quilt! (pattern by @bettycrockerass) The DECLASSIFIED, Spectrastatic, Redux, and Quantum, all by Giuseppe Ribaudo. [giucy_giuce]

Meghan Buchanan's latest, Granny Cabin, pattern to release in June. Love how her fabric choices make it glow!
[thencamejune]

Sophie Zaugg/Luna Lovequilts' recent Curaçao, a small improvisational quilt incorporating traditional hourglass, drunkards path, and snowball blocks with a twist! In addition to the shapes, I love her bold use of color. [lunalovequilts]

Allison Stotler wore her sewing notions dress to the guild quilt retreat and it was SO apropos! Of course she had her scissor earrings on too. As Allison said, "I believe in committing to a theme 100%." smile [allisonehs]

This striking photo and quilt pair by Cynthia Muir caught my eye as I was scrolling thru Instagram. Glad I took a closer look and read her story! What quilters do.... [ahhhquilting]

Can't say I've ever hopped on the Liberty fabric train, but I love seeing items made with it, and this cushion by Cat had me coming back for a second look. The fabric is one thing, but that hand-stitching! I kinda love it. (See more beautiful Liberty under the Instagram hashtag #libertysocietykanthastitchalong!) [tincatsew]
I adore pretty much everything Jill Fisher creates, and her "Making Do" is no exception. There's so much to see, explore, and be inspired by but better than all that, each and every piece comes with a story. Her work is packed full of meaning. [pieladyquilts]

OFF TOPIC

When I saw Jeni Baker/In Color Order's Vintage Sheet Bear Paw Quilt, I swooned a little. I've never used vintage sheets in my sewing, but Jeni has aplenty. Check out her informative post on How to Identify, Shop for, and Sew with Vintage Sheets.

Timely that I also happened upon Polkadot Chair's 3 Tips for Sewing with Vintage Linens
Vintage Fabric Studio is a great resource too, and recently shared What to Use to Clean Vintage Sheets and Fabrics. They're so endearing, aren't they!?
P.S. So who's working on a Black & White quilt for the challenge from Curated Quilts? I've got a seed of an idea, and have barely started piecing. Submissions begin August 1!
