Mid-Season Update

Well, we have come to the midway point of the season 2018. Re-grading is now behind us and we are looking forward to the rest of the season. I would like to congratulate all of our teams, parents and spectators for their fantastic game day behaviour. As a Club, we have not received a single yellow or red card to this point in the year. Keep up the fantastic work of upholding the "Spirit of the game".

Special mention needs to be made of our teams that have had to even-up. For example, both of our YR9 teams have played Brighton JFC and both times, did not hesitate to send our players to Brighton to even-up. This has not gone unnoticed by the Competition Directors from Claremont and West Perth who have been very complimentary of our Club culture and team spirit. Well done to the players, Coaches, Managers and Parents involved with those teams - you should feel very proud.

Clubroom Renovations

Now onto Clubroom news. Unless you have been "off the grid", you would all be aware that the Millington Clubrooms are currently undergoing a well overdue revamp. There is now light at the end of the tunnel and we will be hoping to be able to utilise the newly refreshed Clubrooms for our first round back after school holidays (Sunday 15 July 2018). However, as the we are in the thick of Winter, some areas may not be complete at the time of handover e.g. external painting.

Club Financial Summary

The Committee would like to provide its members and supporters with a summary of the Club's finances so that they have an awareness of the costs and income associated with running the Club.

The objective of the Scarborough Junior Football Club is to foster the game of Australian Rules Football by encouraging the playing of community football by children and youth in the Scarborough area. In addition, the Club aims to create a family friendly environment in which its players can safely build friendships, have fun and develop new skills on and off the field. To achieve this, the Club needs to levy membership fees, attract sponsors and hold fundraising events for the purpose of providing services, purchasing equipment and merchandise to assist with promotion of the sport and Club.

The Committee strives to maintain a balance between the financial viability of the Club and keeping registration fees at a reasonable level. Each year a budget is prepared based on historical income and expenditure while taking into consideration any forecast changes that may impact the financial viability of the Club. This annual review includes comparing the Club's fees against other local junior sporting clubs. The Club's strategy is to maintain a small annual surplus to enable equipment purchases and to provide sufficient cash on hand for unplanned circumstances, e.g. the additional costs incurred as a result of the City of Stirling's renovation of the Millington Clubrooms.

If you have any specific questions please feel free to contact the Club Treasurer Peter Watson:
