"Constitutional Conversation: A New

Lens on America's Best Masterpiece"

Bruce Petrie believes that our Constitution is best seen as neither red nor blue, as neither hyper-partisan nor hyper-legalistic, but as a civic culture masterpiece for We the People. What makes such a masterpiece and why do we need, now more than ever, a new and wider lens on the longest-lived written Constitution in the world?

Bruce Petrie comes to this topic through a legal career of practicing Constitutional law as counsel for public schools and educational institutions; his professorships at Miami University and University of Cincinnati where he teaches a unique undergraduate course entitle "Constitutional Conversation"; an honors American history degree from Brown where he was a student of constitutional history with Pulitzer Prize winning historian Gordon Wood, a law degree from Northwestern where he was on the Law Review Editorial Board, and a federal judicial clerkship for the Hon. John Grady of the United States District Court for the Northern District Ohio in Chicago, one of the busiest federal dockets in the U.S.
He also brings to the Constitution an eye for great American works in arts and culture that illuminate our cultural Constitution. He is an accomplished oil painter, a medalist member of Oil Painters of America, and a member of the Cincinnati Art Museum Board of Trustees.

He and his wife, Mimi, have raised four adult children and have two grandchildren.
