And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.
—John 14:16

Dear Friends,

This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost, marking the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion, resurrection and ascension. Like the first disciples, we also have received the same saving gift of God the Holy Spirit, living within each of us as our inspiration and our guide.

Let's rejoice!

After worship this Sunday there will be a congregational meeting to elect elders, deacons, nominating committee members and auditor. Following that we will have a special Pentecostal coffee hour and volunteer fair – get ideas for how you can connect and use your gifts here at PPC while enjoying delicious cultural finger foods and fellowship. We invite you to bring a food to share.

This Sunday will also be the final Sunday school class for Youth (grades 6–12) before breaking for summer. Godly Play and up through grade 5 will continue lessons through the summer.

A few other notable events coming up:
  • *This Saturday* is the first of two church work days in June (the other is on 6/22). We need lots of help tackling this list of indoor and outdoor projects. Come any time between 8:30am–6:00pm and we will have a job for you! Contact Sheryl Mason or Lee Vander Baan with any questions.
  • PPC will have a booth at the R.I. Pride Festival on South Water Street on Saturday, June 15th from noon–7pm. We need volunteers to help set up, staff the booth, and pack up. Please contact Dan Blackford at dblackford01@gmail.com.
  • Stages of Freedom presents A Concert for Freedom: African American Spirituals with the Schiller Institute Chorus at Manning Chapel on Friday, June 14th at 5:30pm. This is part of a series telling the story of 400 years of slavery in America. More details here.
Please see below for more details and other happenings/opportunities at PPC and in the community.
Peace,

Marianne Harrison
