Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Mississippi State University’s College of Education James Patterson Teacher Education scholars visited Starkville Academy second grade classrooms on Wednesday March 2, 2016 to celebrate Read Across America Day, honoring the 112th birthday of Dr. Seuss. Scholars read Dr. Seuss books to participating classrooms and taught correlating arts & crafts activities to the students. Patterson announced a plan to double the James Patterson Teacher Education Scholarship Endowment for the College of Education following his December commencement address at MSU this past year. Pictured above are Ainslee Oswalt, second grade student in Mrs. Fondren’s class & Caroline Thomas, MSU Freshman Elementary Education major of Cumming, Georgia, working on a craft.
#StateProud Week 2016 will be taking place March 6-12. #StateProud was initially thought up in order to equip our ambassadors (students, staff, faculty, alumni) with short, digestible facts about research MSU is doing and the impact it is having on the state, nation, and the world. Everyone has a unique Mississippi State story, and we are trying to bring those out with hopes of highlighting ways that MSU is leading the way, discovering solutions, and igniting the future.
