The absorption of nutrients by the plants depends to a large extent on the acidity of the soil or substrate:

  • low рН blocks the macro elements absorbability
  • high рН (alkaline reaction) blocks microelements absorbability 

For this reason quick and accurate pH measurement is an essential condition in the optimization of plant nutrition in professional horticulture.

The pH has many effects, mainly on nutrients solubility and their ionic form. At different levels of pH some nutrients may be deficient while others might reach high concentrations to cause toxicity. At high basic pH, most micro-elements will suffer from availability problems. Most plants would prefer to grow within the pH range of 6 to 6.5 that will assure high availability of most demanded nutrients.

The pH 3000 meter meets all requirements for the application soil- and/or water pH-measurements in an outstanding way. It is particularly designed for direct pH-measurement.

The rugged field-ready housing is waterproof and is well-protected against dust and air humidity. The newly developed, gel-filled insertion probe is break-resistant.

What happenes at South East Asian horticulture

 Second INDEGA visit to Thailand
 
For the second time, the INDEGA involved with a joint stand on the important for the Southeast Asian region horticulture trade fair HortiAsia in Bangkok. STEP Systems again joined the German INDEGA stand. 

The venue place of the HortiAsia is Bangkok although the horticultureis also well developed in neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Vietnam. The exhibition is therefore the platform for the entire Southeast Asian region. This was confirmed by looking at  the visitors structure: from Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Indonesia and even from Japan, China and India visitors have found their way to Bangkok.
Even if the success was not overwhelming, yet the vast majority of exhibitors has been very positive about the quality of the visitors. STEP Systems has displayed some of the high-quality testing equipment produced in Germany.  For many visitors and officials the STEP Systems and  INDEGA booth was an interesting meeting point. Many discussions with industrial horticultural companies from those South East Asian countries have informed  the German exhibitors about the current development in horticulture  and the desire to use latest technologies for a and high-quality plant production.
