Sunday Dawn and Dusk Guided Group Walks

In response to many requests Capital Nordic Walking is trialing a month of Dawn and Dusk Guided Group Walks during February.  The walks are for CNW graduates and experienced Nordic Walkers and provide a great opportunity to connect with other Nordic Walkers, try some new routes, and ensure that you are getting the most out of your Nordic Walking.  Remember - Nordic Walking is like golf and tennis - there is always room for improvement - even for the most experienced walkers.

Walks will be held on the 4 Sunday’s in February. Morning walks will start at 7.30am and be held at a lake location.  Evening walks will start at 5.00pm and will take place on mountain trails – providing an opportunity to master differing terrains and surfaces. Kristen will lead the walk, keep an eye on individual techniques, be available to discuss any concerns, and run a post-walk stretching session.

Mix of Circuits & Out and Back
Half of the walks will be Circuits – starting and ending at the same location.  Nordic Walkers will travel at a moderate pace (approx 10-12 mins per km) and stay together as a group.  The other half of the walks are Out and Back – whereby NWers will set out together and agree on a turn-back time (30 or 40 minutes).  This will allow those who walk faster or want to stretch out to work harder – whilst still ensuring that the group finishes together at the same time.
Walk Program and Details
Walks will commence on the dot at 7.30am and 5.00pm. Kristen will be at the start locations 30 minutes before walks commence to check walkers in.  Individual Walk Fact Sheets with further information and maps for each walk are available for downloading by clicking on the links provided in the table below.

Please note that you might need to cut and paste some of the hyperlinks in the PDF Fact Sheets to activate them.

Do I need to book?
No – the idea is for the walks to be casual so that you can join in as you feel like it and time allows.  Simply turn up on the day, about 10 minutes or so before the start time, check in, ensure your Participant Activity Readiness Questionnaire and Emergency Contacts form (PARQ) is completed and submitted, pay up and walk!
Cost: $15.00 per walk payable on the day.  30% of proceeds will go towards CNW Walk for a Cause: April 60km Walk for Women’s Cancer.

What to wear and bring: At the very least - your NW poles, good walking shoes, plenty of water, hat, and sunscreen. Further information about clothing and kit is available on the CNW website

Health and Safety & Emergency Contacts:  Participants are required to complete a Participant Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ) for the February Guided Walks program, including emergency contacts.  This must be provided to the Instructor prior to participation in the first walk.

Cancelled walks:  Walks will be cancelled if weather conditions are unpleasant or dangerous – e.g. heavy rain, winds, lightening, or risk of bush fires.
~Looking forward catching up with you during the February dawn and dusk walks~
