 Meetings & Skillshares

December 10th @ 7pm Food Delivery Training
This meeting is for all of the people who have contacted me about helping deliver lunches and meals.  We will discuss how to use the Google spreadsheet to sign up and other logistical information.

December 12th @ 7pm Food Security Discussion
Online discussion about next year's gardening project.  We will be talking about what to do with the food grade barrels that were donated and how to use the online gardening organizer.
December 19th @ 7pm Community Chat
This month is really busy for a lot of people so we are just going to get together to chat and discuss plans for next year.

December's newsletter is going to to be pretty to the point, because it's a busy month around our household - lots of birthdays and winter holidays. As some of you might recall, last December we hosted a fun holiday event that ended with bartering some things we make. We have a very talented community.

Those of us who wanted to do that again this year covid-style set up a Facebook group where members can trade goods and services with one another.  This is not ideal as I know not everyone is into Facebook.  We just want to assure everyone that this is only a stopgap measure.  We will get back to the idea of having seasonal in-person bartering events when it is safe.

We have had a lot of questions about assisting people who need help with rent or utilities.   We are not looking to turn into a group that redistributes funds.

If a local  community member needs support, they can always message us to share their  information on the Facebook page to crowdsource support for them.  We have added a page to the website where we can share that type of information as well.
That type of direct support fosters autonomy and self-determination which is a core goal of our collective.

I just want to end this email with a few words of encouragement.  This year has been so hard for so many people and it's not going to magically get better at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve.

I am encouraged though by the way we have started to pull together as a collective. Although things are weird and hard right now, I also feel a little bit of hope going into 2021 that we will be able to  better handle whatever it throws at us.
Project Updates

Food Projects
You can read more about the food projects  on the website.  Cooks and bakers who want to direct their time to these projects are always appreciated.  We will post on the Facebook page  and Twitter about ways you can help with that.  Thanks so much to the folx that helped with the Thanksgiving meals!

We  extended our program helping our unhoused neighbors in the area, and were able to get warm winter clothing and sleeping gear to many of the folx we feed. Thanks to everyone who participated in the putting together the Thankgiving meals.  Log into our Samepage to find out about our plan to make cookies for everyone.

Medic Project
The medic trainings are kind of on hold right now.   Online training just isn't working for the trainers. We are hanging out until the Covid spike is over. The ICMA medics have plenty of supplies though and medics who are willing to show up to support direct actions.
