Case Study:  Red Wing
Our partners at the Center on Rural Innovation, with funding from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, did an in depth case study on our community.

"A major piece of Red Wing’s success in building out its regional network, and what makes it work, is that so many people, institutions, and entrepreneurs buy into the regional model."

Read the full report here.

CORI, is committed to helping rural communities across the country become strategic about economic development in the 21st century.

Their case studies aim to showcase the diversity and the commonalities of rural communities across the country. These reports help inform strategic development in our own community and provide links to others as part of CORI’s Rural Innovation Network.

WORKFORCE LEAD UPDATE

Red Wing Ignite kicked off the month of February with virtual attendance at the MAAP Conference (MN Association of Alternative Programs) 2022 From Surviving to Thriving.  Always seeking new ideas and ways to improve and expand our services, Burke gained timely insight from two keynote speakers. Dr. Anton Treuer, a Professor of Ojibwe at Bemidji State University, delivered a nourishing talk entitled Beyond Diversity: Transformative Education in the Age of Racial Reckoning.
Stephanie Malia Krauss, the author of Making It: What Today’s Kids Need for Tomorrow’s World and owner of First Quarter Strategies, presented Currency-Building in Alternative Education: Helping Students Survive and Thrive at the Same Time. https://www.stephaniemaliakrauss.com/

This month the Learn & Earn program involved connecting students to our employer partners and onboarding to start their worksite learning experiences.  We are so grateful that fifteen students from Goodhue, Lake City, and Red Wing are now placed with Central Research Laboratories, Custom Iron, Gemini Sign Products, Hearth & Home Technologies, Knobelsdorff Electric, Engineering & Energy, Lodermeier’s Farm Equipment, SCS Elevator, Sturdiwheat, and USG.

Be a supporter of our non-profit work and consider donating to Red Wing Ignite, a 501c3.

We believe where innovation becomes reality is located in the heart of rural communities, just like Red Wing.

Founded by the community of Red Wing in 2013, with the support of local foundations and the City of Red Wing; our organization works to fuel economic development by working with key sectors of the community to spur innovation by supporting entrepreneurs, businesses, and students.

By bringing together like-minded entrepreneurs, investors and advisors, Red Wing Ignite creates a unique ecosystem for the Red Wing community to share ideas, resources and expertise.

This, in turn, promotes local and regional economic development through ideation, creation and expansion.
