Weekly Energy Saving Tip #26:
Fridge and Freezer Tips

Refrigerators can consume about 7% of the energy in a typical home. Here are a few ways to cut that down:
  • Set your temperature between 35-38 degrees F for the fridge and 0 degrees F for a separate freezer compartment. Use the power-save switch if you have one.
  • Repair refrigerator door seals if you feel cold air around the closed door or if moisture is collecting.
  • Regularly defrost your freezer - ice buildup reduces its effectiveness.
