Weekly Energy Saving Tip #23:
Use Air Circulation to Warm Your Home!

  • Switch ceiling fans to "winter mode" - they'll rotate counterclockwise and push warm air that's risen back down to the floor.
  • On days when it warms up enough, open up your windows and use fans to circulate the air through - like you would to cool the house during summer nights!
  • Use an air deflector (a plastic shield for a vent) to improve air circulation if a vent is under a table or directing heat uncomfortably toward people.
