Proposed Sunshine Coast Council Boundary Changes
Submissions must be in by 11th October 2019
Proposed realignment of the boundaries for Sunshine Coast Council divisions will mean major changes for hinterland communities.
Expected growth east of the Bruce Highway means communities in Buderim and Palmview through to Glenview and up to Maleny will be shuffled to other divisions.
The boundary changes are proposed by the local government change commission as part of a periodic review process.
Division 5 runs from Tanawha through to Palmwoods and Euydlo and out to Maleny and Conondale. It gains part of Booroobin, Peachester and Palmview, the balance of Wootha, Crohamhurst, Maleny, Bald Knob and all of Mount Mellum and Glenview. Also gains Kenilworth, Coolabine, Mapleton, part of West Woombye and the remainder of Kidaman Creek, Obi Obi and Dulong.
Loses Landsborough and Woombye, part of west Woombye and its portion of Rosemount and Nambour.
Gains part of Palmview, loses a portion of Buderim and Tanawha bounded by the Sunshine Motorway, Dizon Road and Ballinger Road.
Community representatives have encouraged members of the public to have their say on the proposed divisions.
The ECQ received only eight submissions when it announced a review of the boundaries.
