September Newsletter

September is here and Fall is just around the corner. I am so looking forward to cooler temperatures and fall colors. Last month was eventful and with Election Day fast approaching, September is shaping up to be another exciting month!

Happening on The Hill

During this interim session, I will be presenting legislation to create The FEMA Gap Fund. Traditional FEMA coverage requires $5 million in unreimbursed damages before the impacted community is eligible. When we experienced the 2020 Magna Earthquake, the township barely qualified for FEMA coverage. This gap fund will allow municipalities to step in and assist our community members should their damages not meet the $5 million threshold for coverage. This fund would not make impacted residents "whole" but would assist in disaster mitigation. It is important that we have a plan to help our neighbors should the unimaginable happen.

We are also making progress with the legislation I've introduced to have monthly rent count towards credit scores. This would an opt-in program for landlords. With rent being a major expense in most households, it seems only right that there be an incentive for paying on time.
Stay tuned for more updates!
