COPOLAD up-to-date
Several policy making support instruments developed in the framework of @ProgramaCOPOLAD will be presented at a Side Event organized by @europeaid. The session, held in the framework of the 60th Commission on Narcotic Drugs @CND_tweets (Vienna, Austria, March 15th at 1:10 pm.), will focus on "COPOLAD: building support tools for evidence-based policy making on drugs". The event will be an opportunity to have an overview of COPOLAD’s contribution to strengthening the implementation of effective policies in CELAC and EU countries. Please, join #COPOLADVienna60CND at Room M3.
@Senda_gob, as the leader for the validation of the quality criteria in Drug Demand Reduction (DDR), will be hosting two working group meetings set-up to perform this exercise for treatment and harm reduction areas. This activity (Santiago, Chile, March 28th – 30th) will gather representatives from 14 Latin American countries, together with the CICAD -@OAS_official@pahowho, @Riod_oficial  and @IDPCnet. At the same time, the National Drug Council of the Ministry of National Security Trinidad & Tobago is leading a working group for the adaptation and validation of the quality criteria for the Caribbean context.

The 2nd COPOLAD II Annual Conference (Buenos Aires, Argentina, May 16th – 17th) will focus on exploring two important challenges for policies on drugs: synthetic drugs and the Internet as a market for illegal selling of drugs. The meeting aims at exploring the current situation of these two key issues, in order to optimize the public responses to the new challenges. In addition, the Annual Conference will provide the opportunity to present updates on the tasks developed so far by the working groups set-up now in the framework of COPOLAD, as well as to agree upon the following steps for the second year of the programme implementation.

We are moving forward, jointly with the ICD-Costa Rica (as the leading country for this activity), CICAD -@OAS_official  and @PNSDgob of Spain, to define the Agenda of the 1st Bi-regional Meeting for the exchange of best practices on "Drugs policies and criminal justice reforms: alternatives to imprisonment for drug-related offences"(San José, Costa Rica, June 27th – 29th).

A new COPOLAD on-line course is now under development: "The Public Health model: Operational implications". The course will be available the second semester of 2017, together with the updated versions of both the "Evidence based prevention" and the "Coordination of health and social services at the Primary Care level". All courses will have Spanish, Portuguese and English versions. Soon we will be approaching countries to initiate the selection of fellowships’ candidates for the regional edition of each course.

We hope this BITS COPOLAD is of your interest and we remind you that all sections bellow are open to your inputs.

Thank you for your attention,

The COPOLAD team
