Porch sitting. Patio sitting, whatever it’s called, I love it. Some of the most memorable moments of my life are spent sitting on my patio with family, friends, or even by myself. Early morning, late evening, rain or shine – I am there. The only thing that runs me inside is the freezing cold, lightening, and those darn gnats!
This morning I sat on another porch with a friend. It was a short visit but a sweet one. Life has changed for this dear friend and her life is not what it once was. She laments the sense of loss and wonders what the future holds for her. There are so many what-ifs and unknowns and yet her faith is strong. I so admire her and have for many years. I shared my first memory of her and how she impacted my own life for the good. I’ve never forgotten that first encounter of my own. I know there are many others who have experienced the same thing. Hers has been a life of service and she has touched countless lives throughout the years. Her words, “and I have loved every minute of it”, say it all. Hers is a servant-heart and it always will be. Maybe that’s why this stage of life is difficult as she can no longer physically do the things she loves doing.
I look forward to more porch sitting whether it be at my home or at the home of another. I have come to understand those moments are both memorable and holy. They are a gift in the midst of a busy world that pulls us in numerous directions. Live the gift and treasure the moments, for they are indeed holy!

Leviticus Bible Study
. . . a 12-week study beginning . . .
Wednesday September 7
in the Sanctuary of Centenary UMC
The book of Leviticus can be challenging for contemporary readers, but its pages are filled with a spiritual riches. More than just archaic rules, the laws outlined in the book of Leviticus reveal God’s holy character and the forgiveness he offers all who repent.
In this accessible study, Dr. Speegle will help you understand how the rituals in the Old Testament Law point to Christ’s work of atonement on the cross – highlighting the riches of the gospel foreshadowed in the Old Testament for Christians today.
