Sanctuary in Parliament- Postponed!
With the increasing political uncertainty at Westminster, we have decided to postpone this year’s Sanctuary in Parliament. We remain committed to holding this vital event. We will look for a better opportunity in the New Year to hold this event to highlight the policy concerns of people seeking sanctuary across the UK.
Sanctuary in Politics Course in Durham
“During this training, I found out that even being an asylum seeker / refugee, I have more rights then I could imagine. And I can make my voice heard. I was inspired.” – A participant

The third successful Sanctuary in Politics course for people seeking sanctuary took place in Durham. The aims of the Raise your Voice/ Sanctuary in Politics courses are to support  the "refugee voice", educate, engage and empower groups of people seeking sanctuary.  Sanctuary Scholarships for 2020
University of St Andrews, which has recently joined the Universities of Sanctuary network, has launched two new Sanctuary Scholarships specifically designed to support undergraduate and postgraduate applicants who are seeking sanctuary in the UK.  A full list of sanctuary scholarships and other bursaries is available on the Star Equal Access website
 Margaret Fingerhut Tour- Autumn Dates
We are grateful to Margaret Fingerhut,  internationally acclaimed pianist for her inspirational  awareness raising piano series tour 'Far From the Home I Love', which has raised over £50, 000 for City of Sanctuary. Don't miss your chance to see and hear her virtuosa performances.

 City of Sanctuary staff join the climate protest action
The City of Sanctuary UK staff team joined the climate strike on the 20th of September in solidarity with young people around the world who called for this strike action.  Read why here.

Campaigns and Actions
Emergency action: sign the letter
Thousands of refugees in the UK will lose vital support in a no-deal Brexit.  Refugee Council and others have signed this letter to call on the Government to honour its previous commitments to maintain this essential funding. Read more about the impact here and show your support here

Stephen Press memorial lecture
 Southampton City of Sanctuary are hosting the inaugural Stephen Press memorial lecture on Thursday 7th November 2019. Stephen was the chair of the Southampton City of Sanctuary group until his passing in 2018.
