Warwick Undergraduate Newsletter - Week 3, Term 2
Hi <<First Name>>,

We hope you've had a good couple of weeks and the new term is going well. Here's a quick round-up of news and information.

This week saw the opening of SU Officer nominations. If you have ideas about things you'd like to change at the University or SU, then becoming an Officer is a brilliant way to represent your fellow students and to help improve things for the better.  Put yourself forward!

Following graduation last week, take a look at who received honorary degrees, and check out the photos (as far as we know, none of these were taken with the Hubble Space Telescope).

Don't forget, if you want to sign up to the Warwick Skills Portfolio Award, you need to attend a 'Getting Started' workshop - your last chance is Tuesday 2 February!

All the best,

Student Communications Team

p.s. If you're fed up of breaking your egg, then do something about it.
Varsity 2016: Next month sees the return of Varsity, where our sports teams go head-to-head with Coventry over an action-packed few days, and we want you to help cheer on Team Warwick.  Check out the fixtures and buy your tickets here.
Submit your questions for the VC:  You can now send us your questions for Vice Chancellor Stuart Croft's first 'Question Time' event. The event will be held on Monday 1 February in MS.02 (Maths & Stats Building), from 6pm to 8pm.
Switch it off:  Early evening (5-7pm) is a peak time for energy use, and to generate it the UK has to use the most inefficient and polluting power stations to generate electricity. Do your bit to reduce carbon emissions by switching things off.  Explore the University and NUS pages to find out more.
UK Trips: Welcome in the year of the Monkey by celebrating Chinese New Year in Manchester. It's one of several trips around the UK organised by The Global Student Engagement team - explore what's on offer. All are welcome!
Warwick Economics Summit 5-7 February:  Warwick Economics Summit is an entirely student-run international forum where you can listen to some of the world's most revered and inspirational speakers.  Explore what's on.
LGBT History Month:  On Wednesday 3 February, 12.20 - 13.30, Registrar Ken Sloan will be raising the Rainbow Flag outside University House (by reception), followed with a reception and short talk by Daniel Smith from Stonewall.  Please register to attend the reception and talk here.
Funding opportunities:  If you're looking for funds for extra-curricular projects, The Opportunity Fund provides one-off bursaries to individuals, clubs or societies.  If you want funding for a summer research project, the URSS provides bursaries and skills training.  Or, if you're feeling entrepreneurial, the Student Enterprise Fund provides support for your new start-up or social enterprise.
Check out the events calendar. From public lectures, to a science gala, MaRaWthon, and RAG's Charity Ball - there's loads going on.
