The Refugee Increase...

is at a new high with an influx of hundreds and hundreds of people coming into Europe, scared for their lives. So many being women and children. This is an incredible opportunity to love and serve the one in front of us. There is great need for more laborers here.

Here in Athens, refugees from mainly Iran and Afghanistan come to the ministry center where our team is feeding and clothing many and able to share Jesus with them throughout the week..but the life they hope for is not at all easy to come by. Housing and camps have become very difficult. For various reasons, resettling into a normal way of life here in Greece or anywhere for that matter, can take 6 months - several years... the people are desperate. People that were resettled are now being forced out of their housing here and starting over in the process...its a grim situation for so many. That's why its a strategic time to be here! To be the light and give people hope on such a seemingly hopeless journey.

So, we are blessed to carry the presence of Jesus, to be a friend, to serve, to seize the day and this timely opportunity with the foreigner among us, the homeless, the hungry... God is forming relationships here, encouraging discipleship and hunger for more of Jesus daily. Keep praying!!!

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.
Leviticus 19:34

Thank you for your prayers and support in us being here - all for God's glory - we are in this together!

Israel's next video will be in an email coming soon! Be sure to watch!
Currently...I(Leslie) will help give a baby shower to a young lady volunteering on our ministry team in about a week. As well as prepare some diaper bags for expectant refugee mamas this month. A donation of $60 will help to fill one diaper bag!
Do we have a proper burden for the lost?
You may be willing to give a kidney to save a life...but would you give your salvation for another to be saved? It seems like that is what Paul is saying in Romans 9:1-3...
"I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirms it through the Holy Spirit— I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race.."

To be completely honest, I cannot say that I would even have this type of passion that Paul expresses here for the lost in his own neighborhood and family!
BUT I DO want to want to see the lost come to Christ, more than ever before! Did you catch that? I want to want that! I want to drown my own selfish desires and see the lost saved! I am burdened for the lost, but not nearly like I need to be!
I am praying for a compassionate burden for the lost to overcome me and you today. That Christ would capture our attention in a way that we would live differently than the world and pray for the foreigners, our loved ones, our neighbors and our children. Then act on those prayers and make a difference for eternity!

Will you pray about how you can be involved in our ministry to refugees at this strategic time? We need you on our team, helping us be here to serve well, and strive for God to be glorified in the midst of these displaced people.

As always, prayer warriors, thank you for your constant link to the Father on our behalf! We are battling fatigue and also need an extra boost this coming month with our apartment rent here in Greece.

We give God praise that we get to be here at this time! Its the little miracles along the way that encourage us and how the Spirit brings fresh joy to us to share with those struggling around us. If we need to count it all joy in trials (James 1) how much more in the times of seeing the lost saved!?!
We cannot afford to be complacent here, it is the purpose of the church and the commission of our Lord, to go and make disciples.

We do count every good moment, and those that we struggle in, a joy because we know Jesus Christ and His wondrous
work for us is being spread throughout the nations!
Our prayers and thoughts are with you all...

Love and grace...Israel and Leslie
We were privileged to give these new believers their very first Bible in their language.
James 1:2-3
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
