St. Alban's Episcopal Church
This Week at St. Alban's

Monday, May 6, 2019

Dear all,

Yesterday in worship, Roseann Fahrner shared an update on her husband John's medical status. The family can use meals while John is in the hospital in San Francisco, and Roseann would appreciate rides to/from the hospital (CPMC). Here is a link to sign up.

As mentioned in church yesterday, the City Council meets this evening and on the agenda are items related to the creation of affordable housing at Cleveland and Washington. There will be two opportunities for public comment: at 5:30 pm before closed session (addressing item 2-4 on that part of the agenda), and during public comment on Item 9 regarding a zoning change to make the housing development possible. The regular meeting begins at 7:30pm. Anyone's guess what time item 9 would come up. (Bring you knitting!). If, like me, you cannot attend in person, you can write a letter. Here is mine, if you'd like an idea of language to use.
The agenda is here.  Here is the staff report from last June, and the minutes from that meeting..
Here are links for emails to Councilmembers.

On Monday, May 20, Dani Gabriel and I are going to Sacramento for the annual Immigration Day rally. Want to join us?  Click here

Please keep our team (Christine Staples, Mike Trevino, Sandy Burnett, Claire Burns and me) in your prayers tomorrow as we present plans for Calliope to the Standing Committee of the Diocese.

Meanwhile, in my spiritual practice, I'm trying out starting my day asking, "I wonder what I will learn today?," followed by a prayer that I may be open to the day ahead. What question or practice starts your day?

In love and gratitude,
Rev. Julie

Parish Meeting

Sunday, May 19

in the Parish Hall, following worship

The budget approved in January contained a $40K+ deficit.
Please join the vestry for a meeting to discuss our current status,
and options under consideration as we go forward.

As Rev. Julie mentioned on Sunday, the most direct route
to solving our budget problem is to grow the congregation.
(It would also bring us the blessing of more wonderful friends!)

You are encouraged to think about who in your life
might find the community at St. Alban's a blessing
– and invite them to join us!
