St. Alban's Episcopal Church
This Week at St. Alban's

Wednesday, January 23, 2019

Dear all,

Apologies for getting this to you on the late side this week. We are full-steam ahead preparing for Sunday's Annual Meeting (see below).
Hope you'll be joining us!

Meanwhile, I hope you found time on Monday to celebrate the life and ministry of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Here is one of my favorite quotes from him, in part because it goes straight to the heart of life here at St. Alban's:

"Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.
You don’t have to have a college degree to serve.
You don’t have to make your subject
and your verb agree to serve.
You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. …
You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.”
(source: "The Drum Major Instinct" delivered at the Ebenezer Baptist Church,
Atlanta, Georgia, February 4, 1968)

The loving service that lies at the heart of our parish, and in the living testimony of each, member is our greatest treasure – showing forth God's love in our midst. As I prepare to reflect with you this Sunday on the year past, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for all that flows – in and out – in love in this community.

I look forward to gathering with you on Sunday to celebrate this great Love.

In love and gratitude,
Rev. Julie
