St. Alban's Episcopal Church
This Week at St. Alban's

Monday,  February 10, 2020

Dear Friends,
Thanks so much to Deacon Dani and the Rev. Will Scott for yesterday’s service. Will also shared the wonderful news that he has been called as a full-time Associate Rector at Christ Church in Alameda, where he has often swerved as a supply priest. He’ll be leading worship for us at the noon and 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday services before joining Christ Church in March.  We will miss having him as one of our associate priests.
Next week, our other associate priest, the Rev. Duane Sisson, will be presiding with Steve Hitchcock preaching.
The Vestry met yesterday afternoon at my house for the annual February retreat. We enjoyed fellowship at lunch and then took on drafting our responses to the Diocesan Office for Transition Ministry (OTM) portfolio narrative, which is an important document in our search for a priest-in-charge. You’ll get to see a draft as soon as we have it in reasonable shape. The questions about things like our ministry style and how we handle conflicts generated some fruitful discussions.
See you soon — Sandy

P.S. We’re stocking up on wine! This is the wine we use for communion from Trader Joe’s and donations are welcome! Thank you.

Further Ahead:

Third Sunday Concert,  February 16, 2020:
Violins of Hope: Along the Trade Route
This concert features instruments from a collection lovingly restored violins once played by prisoners in Nazi concentration camps. We will feature four violinists playing folk music from various parts of the world. Led by Cookie Segelstein playing Klezmer, other musicians will offer Celtic, South Indian and Middle Eastern tunes.

We are grateful for an initial grant from the Albany Community Foundation, and for sponsorship from
Congregation Netivot Shalom of Berkeley, North Berkeley Investment Partners, Roland Feller Violins and Timbre Folk and Baroque. We are actively seeking additional grants and sponsors to support this amazing show.
