This Week at St. Alban's

Monday, April 22, 2019

Dear all,

Alleluia! Christ is Risen!
Many thanks to all who helped make Holy Week and Easter such beautiful and sacred times at St. Alban's.

It was a joy to celebrate resurrection on Sunday with the baptism of Izzy and Bea Nemeth! Here's one little picture... I know there are more out there (and egg-hunting, too!). (Please free to share your photos, or post on FB and tag #St.Alban's). This is Beatrice, testing out the water as she gets ready to be baptized. I'm especially grateful to Asha Tadeo, who was my special baptism assistant.

I am out of the office this week - helping my mom celebrate her 81st birthday, and just generally catching my breath after such a full week and all that led up to it. Karen is out of of the office today, but back in on Tuesday.

Do join me Saturday evening for St. Alban's own Arthur Omura, who will be offering a harpsichord concert in the sanctuary, to benefit our capital campaign. (See flyer below).

May the promise and practice of Resurrection give you hope and courage to be love in the world!

In love and gratitude,
Rev. Julie

Narrative Art Center Camps
Camp Hours: 9 am - 2:30 pm
Ages served: 10 - 16

June 24 - 28
Discounts available for St. Alban's members.

About the camps: We'll study film history, video creation techniques, and visual communication to inspire campers to think and talk about the movies they love. We'll learn a DIY “Makers” approach to filmmaking by creating our own individual short films in one week’s time using equipment provided by the camp.
Focused on the art and design behind narrative filmmaking, we emphasize story structure and the relationship between character and environment.  Campers research and storyboard their ideas crafting them into a short live action video. They then design and build their own miniature environments and workshop their characters to fit within the worlds they make. By the end of the week, using basic green screen and compositing techniques, they create a short film where their characters interact within the world they built.

In the afternoon we see a slide presentation, play a trivia game, and bake desserts.
