This Week at St. Alban's

Monday, January 7, 2019

Dear all,

It's the season of Epiphany – a time of wonder, discovery, "aha!" moments, and of opening our hearts to new things.

In my prayers this morning, I was happy to find this affirmation of faith, from the United Church of Canada [I found it in Daily Prayer for All Seasons, but here is the original source: “A New Creed” from Voices United: A Hymn and Worship Book (Nashville: United Church Publishing House, 2007), p. 918.]

I thought it was a good framework for meditation. What are you praying/affirming/meditating on these days? I look forward to hearing about it.

We are not alone;
  we live in God’s world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
  to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others by the Spirit.
We trust in God.

We are called to be the Church:
  to celebrate God’s presence,
to live with respect in creation,
  to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
  our judge and our hope.

In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God.

Thanks be to God, indeed. Have a beautiful week.

In love and gratitude,
Rev. Julie

It's a new year – and the altar guild stock is empty!
Please bring your Epiphany gifts (of wine and/or grape juice).

Any purple grape juice is fine
(does not need to be a brand name). We need about 12 bottles.
For the wine, please purchase the port pictured below.
It's about $6.50 at Trader Joe's. (Porto Morgado  – RUBY
We need about 22 more bottles of wine.
