Dairy Industry Updates and Activations
In the spirit of the Month of May, and the traditional winner’s drink of milk, help us to honor and support those most impacted by COVID-19. Nominate a Hoosier Hero in your community and in turn, our partners will donate funds to Indiana Food Banks in the name of our Hoosier Heroes. Plus, you can also help during a time of need by donating directly to Indiana Food Banks. Nominate and donate by May, 25, 2020.

ADAI Updates

  • Farmer-Community Relief Grant: Recognizing that the on-farm and community events that we normally fund through our grant program are not taking place as planned, we’ve pivoted to include new Farmer-Community Relief Grants for farmers to connect their local food pantries with commercial refrigeration units. Click here to apply for your local organization.
  • Family Resources during COVID-19: AgriNews explores ADAI's Family Resources page, created to provide creative outlets and resources for individuals to keep busy during the shelter-in-place order. Informative and fun content for families to help pass the time and learn more about where their food comes from.
  • USDA Food Boxes: USDA will spend $470 million on food that will be sent to people in need across the country. About a quarter of the total — $120 million — will be spent on dairy foods. ADAI partners like Prairie Farms, Golfo di Napoli, McFarling Foods, and Heartland Foods were selected to fill and distribute these boxes.

Health Professionals Webinars: ADAI launched their first webinar series for health and wellness leaders this week. Titled “Digital Dairy Series- A Download From Leaders In Sustainable Nutrition and Agriculture”, the online event kicked off with a presentation by Farmer/Author, Michele Payn. Over 150 participants from across the country tuned in to learn more about “Food Bullying” and the consequence of misinformation on food prices, the food insecure, and farmers.
This series will run through June 30th, seven presentations in all, covering everything from grocery store trends during COVID-19 to the latest dairy science, including a virtual farm tour. Share with health professionals you know! Registration information and details here.
