Online, In-Person and Zoom
Wednesday, December 7th

Each November our Chapter Bylaws dictate that we elect a new board of directors to lead the chapter during the succeeding calendar year.

This year’s nominating committee was composed of Rebecca Wellborn, Deb Rothenberg, Antonia Krueger and Roberta Owens. The Bylaws also allow nominations “from the floor” and there is one position still open.

This email is your invitation to vote yea or nay on the nominees being proposed. There are three ways to vote:
  1. Vote in person at the December 7th Membership Meeting.
  2. Vote via Zoom on Wednesday, 12/7/22 at 6:30 pm.
  3. Vote online via a Google Form link emailed on 12/1/22 to all active members.
Results of the vote will be announced at the December meeting after the presentation. The nominees are:

President Andrea Anderson
Past President Davis Byrkit
Vice President Antonia Krueger
Treasurer

FNPS Monthly Meeting: Native Plants in Ikebana
Wednesday, December 7th
In person and Zoom
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Using Native Plants in Ikebana - The Art of Japanese Flower Arranging
Presenters: Sue Taylor and Suzanne Hassell

What Is Ikebana?
Ikebana (ee-kay-bah-nah) is the Japanese word for the art of Japanese flower arranging. A free translation might be “bringing flowers to life.” Ikebana arrangements capture nature through the designer’s eyes and provide uniquely beautiful glimpses of something magical. It is an art form that will challenge your creativity!

This meeting is in person and on Zoom. We hope you will join us in person.

Arrive at 6:30 to enjoy refreshments, meet other members and participate in a silent auction of donated native plant "volunteers", seeds and cuttings. Prices start at $1. Bring what you can and be sure to bring cash to purchase.

"Natives in Focus" Inaugural Field Trip
Sunday, December 11th
Boyd Hill Nature Preserve
8:30 AM - 11 AM

Join David Perkey and Jan Allyn at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve for a plant photography outing. We will meet in front of the Nature Center at 8:30 a.m. and walk the trails in search of attractive photography subjects.

This new Pinellas FNPS special interest group is designed to inspire and inform, with participants celebrating the beauty of native plants and plant communities and sharing our knowledge to improve our photography skills. A follow-up virtual meeting will be scheduled so that participants can share and/or critique photos. We hope that this initial “Natives in Focus” event will be the first of many and that the group will attract Pinellas FNPS members who enjoy capturing images of natural landscapes, native gardens, and the wildlife they support, and sharing that beauty with others.

If you’d like to attend, please RSVP to jallyn727@gmail.com and provide your name and cell phone number.

Pinellas Chapter Nominating Committee
Seeking Treasurer for 2023 Board
We are currently looking for a member to serve as Treasurer, with some bookkeeping experience or strong computer skills, who can learn to use Quickbooks online version. If you are willing to volunteer to keep the books, but do not want to serve on the board, that is acceptable. The chapter has at most 3-4 transactions a month, and the time required is about three hours a month.

The Board meets monthly on the third Tuesday, via zoom, at 6:30 pm. Meetings last about an hour. If you have an interest in becoming more involved in the chapter, please join us at our next board meeting to see what goes on "behind the curtain." Email President@pinellasnativeplants.org for the Zoom link to attend the next board meeting.

Contact the Nominating Committee if you have an interest in learning more or want to nominate a member you admire.
