Holy Days

Foggy day at Two Lights Park

These are ‘Holy Days’, the season of darkness, contemplation and reflection. Holy days are precious days, as I think all days are.  But thoughts and feelings come and go, always changeable. I certainly get caught by them, being human. Yet I seek to inhabit the changeless domain. Or acknowledge I am, truly, finally, in it, of it, now and forever, that I am Awareness, Presence.

My meditation mantra "Sat, Chit, Ananda reminds me:
Existence, Consciousness, Bliss. That last one is a challenge for me.
In this precarious world, can I really be happy? To be blissful is revolutionary and evolutionary, a threat to some people. A threat to me sometimes, lonely, yet what I want, who I am.

I appreciate the Columbia University scholar Bob Thurman’s teaching that what we have here is a "Buddhaverse”: that this existence — the only one we have right here and now — is bliss.
