Coriole has been an Australian pioneer of Sangiovese and Italian varieties since 1985.
Family members Mark and Paul Lloyd have managed the Coriole Vineyard for 30 years. Mark was the first in Australia to plant and make Sangiovese and Fiano wines.
Mark’s sister-in-law Kris Lloyd is one of Australia’s best known cheesemakers and her Woodside varieties are matched exquisitely to the Coriole Wine selections.
Coriole is situated in the undulating hills of the densely planted McLaren Vale region. The Adelaide soils are shallow terra rosa with red-brown earth over hard capped limestone. This soil produces rich coloured red wines and shows a capacity to age beautifully.
The Coriole Vineyard Estate produces predominately Shiraz, planted as early as 1919. The variety balance grown at Coriole are, Shiraz, Sangiovese, Chenin and Cabernet Sauvignon. Other varieties include Fiano, Grenache, Barbera, Montepulciano, Merlot and Semillon. Coriole homes 25 vineyards that age from 90 years to 3 years old.
Coriole are traditional in their winemaking process; the red wine ferments are hand plunged, with both new and old oak used to gain maturity and exceed maximum contribution of oak flavour and extract in the wine.
Coriole of McLaren Vale has long been one of the great names in Australian wine experiences.
This is a must attend evening.
