Hi <<First Name>>-
Laura MullenWelcome to our first-ever members-only newsletter! We recently surveyed members of The Water Council about what you want out of your membership, and one thing we heard from you was more communication specifically to members. (It’s not too late to take the survey, by the way.) We want to hear your feedback, so please let us know what you like, where we can improve and what you want to see in the newsletter in the future. And if you know of someone who should be added to our membership email list, please have them contact me.

Your Benefits at Work
Registration opened recently for our annual Water Leaders Summit. The event will be virtual this year, and while we will miss seeing you in person, this does make it easier for far-flung members to attend and to attract a variety of top panelists no matter where they live.

We hope you’ll join us from 9 to 11 a.m. central time July 20-22 and 27-29. As members, you receive a registration discount and can access all six sessions for $99. Visit our website to learn more and register. You can still become a “water leaders champion” sponsor for $500. Click here to see sponsor benefits and sign up.

We also have an exciting opportunity for you to attend this year's virtual Singapore International Water Week to be held June 21-July 2. The virtual event features close to 100 keynotes, thematic webinars, technology showcases, workshops on best practices and solutions spanning the urban water cycle, along with a virtual expo featuring more than 100 exhibitors with cutting-edge solutions, products and technologies. Members of The Water Council can receive a 20% registration discount with the code SIWW210TWC20.

In-person Member Meetings Are Coming Back!
Another thing we heard from you loud and clear is that you’re ready to network again. That’s why we are excited to announce we are planning an in-person member social in September! Our board members will gather to chat with members in a casual setting at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 15 (location to be determined). Get ready to catch up with colleagues and discuss your preparations for WEFTEC 2021, which will also be in-person Oct. 16-20 in Chicago. We’ll share a sign-up for the member social in August. We are eager to see you again!

Meet a Member
We want to help you get to know your fellow members, so we plan to feature a monthly profile in this newsletter. First up is a two-for-one featuring Clearwater Industries, Inc. and SIGMA DAF Clarifiers, both manufacturers of wastewater treatment systems. If you’re interested in being featured in the newsletter, please let us know.

SIGMA DAF, from Spain, was looking to expand business into the U.S. by finding a partner/distributor and joined as an overseas member of The Water Council to leverage connections we could make. The Water Council introduced SIGMA DAF to several water tech companies in Wisconsin with the goal of finding a complementary partner. Representatives from SIGMA DAF came to Milwaukee for company introductions.  Clearwater Industries, based in Milwaukee, was identified as a possibility. Even though their water-clarifying methods were different, they realized they could successfully work together and expand their market reach at the same time. A joint venture between the two family-owned businesses was created. The first SIGMA DAF unit is expected to arrive in Milwaukee any day. Hopefully, Clearwater will not only be a distributor but quite possibly a manufacturer of this unit as well.

We recently worked with Source Ten Creative to produce a video about the partnership through support from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. We’ll share the video at the Water Leaders Summit, but you can have a sneak peek today.
The Water Council successfully matched SIGMA DAF of Spain with Clearwater Industries of Milwaukee, Wis., for a productive business partnership.
Get to Know Our Global Partners
Our success in linking SIGMA DAF and Clearwater was made possible by our relationship with Catalan Water Partnership (CWP). Founded 12 years ago, CWP is a nonprofit strategic association headquartered in Barcelona, Spain. Its scope is purposely broad: promoting projects and collaborations for developing sustainable water solutions.

Our president and CEO, Dean Amhaus, and Xavier Amores of CWP formalized our partnership at WEFTEC Chicago in 2018, and since then our relationship has flourished. The team – Xavier, Eric Santos and Lucia Gusmaroli – are all welcoming and friendly, as well as extremely astute. As partners, we share ideas, collaborate on projects, participate in each other’s events and help our members explore opportunities in each other’s markets.

The Catalan region has a dynamic water tech sector, offering growth opportunities to companies that provide differential value in efficient and optimized water management and water quality solutions. The CWP’s open approach could mean rich opportunities for collaboration for members of The Water Council if you’re looking to expand your business internationally. Click here to read more about our joint initiatives, cultural exchanges and relationships between CWP companies and members of the TWC ecosystem.
