Emma Joy Venter - the latest news!
Thank you to everyone who has been holding our family and little Emma up in prayer! It has been 3 months now since we asked you to pray for her and many of you are asking for an update....
On the adoption side of things: We have found a Christian lawyer who lives in our town of Goroka! Through us asking for prayer we were contacted by a friend in the Evangelical Brotherhood Church who knew a lawyer in their church! What an answer to prayer he has been! Just today we heard that he has lodged out application to adopt in the court! Please pray that this will get processed by the end of this week. This is still the beginning of the court process, so keep praying!
On the side of Emma's development: We have seen so much progress in Emma over the past 3 months! Every child's story is unique and so is Emma's - the details of her birth and abandonment we will probably never know, BUT the Lord does know! He has entrusted her to us, to love and to raise in our family! This is such a privilege for us! Over these past few months she has started to pick up food and eat it by herself, she sits on her bottom and turns circles, she reaches for toys by going into a crawling position, she pulls herself into a standing position while holding onto me, she stands and cruises (slowly) along the edge of the couch, she knows what she wants and what she dislikes too! For us, all of the above are milestones and proof of development! Emma, just loves people, especially other little kids - she giggles and tries to touch their hair! She chats to us and is probably our loudest baby by far!
We have been blessed to be in touch with one of our friends in South Africa who is an Occupational Therapist. She has given me some areas to work on with Emma too!
There are things that are difficult for us to investigate further, like Emma's eye sight. We know that she can see things close by, but sometimes we are concerned about her long distance vision - please do continue to pray for her eyes!
Thank you all for your prayer support in all of this! We have received messages from far and wide and we know that the Lord is at work here!
We are continuing to pray that the adoption keeps moving forward and that all the documents can be processed by the court and the office in Port Moresby so that a court date can be set. We are hoping that it can happen in April.
