Canal Boat Trip

We have booked the All Aboard Canal Boat on Monday afternoon the 27th of June.  If you didn’t manage to go the last time and would like to go, please speak to Henry on Sunday or contact him on henry.hudson@churchofscotland.org.uk or 07895 228784 for more information.

Palmerston Place Church Walking Group

We’d love for you to join us on our next walk, on Sunday 3rd July.

We’ll be doing a walk of around 6-8 miles, following the canal and the Water of Leith Walkway to Balerno. We’ll set off from Palmerston Place Church at 12 noon, and our route will take us along the canal to the aqueduct, then along the Water of Leith walkway via the Dells, Colinton Tunnel and Spylaw Park to Balerno. If you haven’t seen Colinton Tunnel before, prepare to be amazed!

We’ll get to Harrison Park around 12.30, and be there until about 1pm. Anyone from GDS Church can join us at this point. Please let me know of any interest, and I can provide my phone number to make it a bit easier to meet up on the day, with Harrison Park being quite big. Bring a packed lunch to have in Harrison Park.

If 8 miles is more than you want to do, there are numerous places to bow out and catch a bus back.

If you would like to know more, please email Rachel Yule at mcphaden07@gmail.com.

Free Will Offering

Any one wishing Free Will Offering envelopes can collect them from the church - they are on the communion table at the door to the back corridor.  Alternatively contact the treasury team if you want envelopes or details of the church bank account for a standing order at treasurer@gdschurch.org.uk.

Safe Families

As the summer months approach, we are offering a final opportunity before the holiday season gets into full swing, for those interested in volunteering with Safe Families as part of their church life to train with us during the month of June.

We would love it if you can share the details of this opportunity with your church family and look forward to getting to know any of your members who might be moved to find out more about volunteering with Safe Families and how it can impact their local community.

We recently came across this quote from American novelist William Styron “It is hopelessness more than pain that crushes the soul.” At Safe Families, our volunteers are hope carriers and without them we could not do what we aim to do.  Thank you for encouraging those with a heart for families to come forward and join with us and you in touching and potentially transforming lives across our communities.

With every blessing

Don, Kate, Rachel, Rebecca and the Safe Families team.

Saltyard

Our church cafe is open - selling a variety of homemade cakes, scones, soups and platters and delicious coffees and speciality teas. Saltyard will be open Wednesday to Friday 9am-4pm and the team look forward to welcoming old and new customers. Why not pop in for a lovely bowl of soup and a cuppa!? We look forward to seeing you then.
