News from GDS Church

We are delighted to welcome you this Sunday in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you are a visitor, please make yourself known to the welcome team or the minister.

Tomorrow morning the service will be led by our Minister, Rev. Peter Barber, supported by the Ministry & Worship Teams and our theme is 'Four marks of the Church.'

The Scripture is from 1 Corinthians 3:1-23.

Church Family News

Friday 20th January 1995
Not a misprint but a memorable date in the life of our congregation, although it had been changed to accommodate a home match at Tynecastle! (Hearts 2 Hibs 0 )

Twenty-five years ago we gathered for the Induction of our new minister, Rev Peter Barber. We have shared a great deal over that quarter-century including the introduction of new initiatives, gains and losses within the congregation, and two Unions resulting in Saltyard and Diadem. Throughout the years we have witnessed the manse family growing up, the teamwork of Peter and Norda, and have been blessed with the faithful preaching of the gospel and pastoral love and care of our minister.

We give thanks for this ministry and wish Peter, Norda and their family God's continued blessings in the future.

Treasurer’s Report:
Offerings - Last year (2019) the offerings to the church were £5,000 less than the previous year.  It is important to support the work of the church on a regular basis.  Consequently the Kirk Session have agreed that the congregation need to be aware of the offerings figure.

After two weeks the average Sunday collection was £704, compared to a figure of £741 after two weeks in 2019.  In addition we receive standing orders and that income will be reported at the start of February.
