News from GDS Church

We are delighted to welcome you today in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you are a visitor, please make yourself known to the welcome team or the minister.

This morning our service will be led by our Minister, Rev. Peter Barber supported by the Ministry & Worship teams, where we will be exploring the theme of "I am the bread of life" and the scripture is from John 6:22-42.

Our evening service takes place in Saltyard where the theme is the 9th Commandment 'You shall not give false testimony' and the scripture is from Luke 22:66-23:5. We would be delighted to welcome you at 6pm for a time of relaxation with coffee and cake and the service will start at 6.30pm.

Events for your diary

TODAY: Sunday 3rd November, after the 11am Service.  Harvest Lunch in GDS Gorgie:
For several years now we have marked God's goodness to us at this time of year through our Urban Harvest. In the last couple of years however, practical donations to the charities we support have dwindled, so this year something different is planned. We will have a Harvest Lunch in the large hall after the morning service on Sunday, 3rd November. Although there will be no charge for the meal, you are invited to make a financial donation which will help support the refitting of the kitchen at Diadem, and the purchase & maintenance of a Publicly Accessible Defibrillator outside our buildings.

Monday 4th  November, 1:30pm. The Fellowship in GDS Gorgie:
We welcome ladies and gentlemen to our friendly weekly meeting, where we share in worship, have a cup of tea and goodies and a chat, and enjoy a variety of speakers and entertainers. Please do join us and bring along a friend! This week, we will hear from Singer and Guitarist - Margot Falconer.

Wednesday 6th November, 7:00pm. Fellowship Meal in GDS Saltyard:
Kerry Reilly will be speaking and showing a power-point about the YMCA in Scotland and what it has achieved through its UK 175 years of history. As our neighbour at Diadem we should know how we can support and show an interest in each other in 2019 - in 1844 it was 'a refuge of Bible study and prayer for young men seeking escape from the hazards of life on the streets'! Come along to find out more. Donations towards the cost of the meal much appreciated (Suggested £4).
