HC101: What and why?
The Chaptermembers and advisers focus on sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social activities.
The House Corporation (HC)provides and maintains the chapter house, oversees the kitchen and house director, and purchases insurance for the chapter.
Every woman initiated into Eta Kappa Chapter of Delta Gamma is a lifetime member of its House Corporation.
There's nothing quite like the memories you make with your Delta Gamma sisters!
Late Breaking News from
Chapter President Maddie Erikkson!!!
"Yesterday, we attended the Standards of Excellence Awards Ceremony. Delta Gamma was awarded Sorority of the Year for 2016-2017! We were also recognized for scholarship, service, campus leadership and won The Most Sustainable Chapter Award!"
Introducing Chef Valeria
Chef Valeria Kennerson was born and raised in Far East Russia. Her culinary career began at age 13, when she started bringing homemade lunches to her family and friends. Since then she has traveled around the world and held a variety of jobs in the food service industry. Since moving to the USA in 2003, Valeria earned associate degrees in Culinary Arts and Nutrition.
Our Chef Valeria has become part of the Delta Gamma family at 2300 Greek Village Drive, and chapter members know she will work with them to be sure they are getting tasty, nutritious meals that meet their needs.
Valeria and her kitchen staff are employees of Campus Cooks. The House Corporation hires Campus Cooksto staff our kitchen and provide meals for the chapter. It's a win/win for us. Campus Cooks is the employer of record, gets great prices from suppliers because they are a big customer, and does all the paperwork. Delta Gamma gets Valeria!
An Old Delta Gamma Tradition in the New House
The chapter held its first Formal Chapter Dinner this fall before its monthly Formal Chapter Meeting. Chapters everywhere fortunate enough to have a dining room that will hold their entire membership have always made these dinners a part of the fabric of chapter life. We are excited to see this tradition take root at NC State!
The Chapter's Wish List
Each year House Corporation asks the Chapter to submit a Wish List of items they would like for the house. Chairing HC's Wish List Committee is Alicia Acres Cossaboon (who is, BTW, the first initiate of Eta Kappa Chapter).
The items on last year's list were
a mini fridge for the servery
a small portable sound system
Over the summer, Alicia arranged for the purchase of the first two items by anonymous Delta Gamma alumnae.
Alicia, along with the first chapter president, Lindsay Gentry O'Connor, spearheaded a campaign for donations from members of the first new member class (and a generous friend or two!) to purchase patio furniture. So far they have provided two tables with chairs (pictured below), and are continuing to work toward the purchase of some chaises for sunbathing.
We look forward to seeing the 2017-2018 Wish List soon!
Parents Weekend Stop & Shop
Chapter vp: programming Shelby Elit organized a wonderful series of events for Parents Weekend this year, including the first-ever Stop & Shop to benefit the House Corporation's ongoing Capital Campaign to pay down the debt service on our mortgage.
Lower mortgage payments = lower costs for members and their families.
Capital Campaign Chair Laurie Richard Byrd's Anchor Boutique (pictured below) was stocked with donated items so all proceeds go to HC (and the mortgage!).
Raleigh/Cary Alumnae Association president Shellie Hubbard sold Jubilations Cheesecakes (a company owned by a Delta Gamma alumna in Mississippi) for the holidays, and all profits will go to the House Corporation. Shoot Shellie an email if you need one! They will be delivered to the house on November 19.
Chapter alumna Kayla Brewer sold merchandise from her new store in Raleigh, Voda Boutique, and will donate a share of the profits to HC.
Jewelry vendor Kendra Scott was also on hand, and is generously donating a share of profits to HC.
