While our sabreurs were occupied with competition at home and abroad, some of Ireland's top foilists and épéeists descended on Loreto Abbey, Dalkey, this weekend for a mid-season training weekend.

Caterina Pozzan, Ludovica Bicego, and Sebastian Bicego are all representing Italy internationally, and both Bicegos contributed to won team gold for Italy at the 2015 European Cadet Championships.

Romanian épéeist Andrei Radu, a double World Cup medallist at junior level, led Saturday's épée session with a focus on fundamentals and structured bouting.
