Phew, that’s January booted into the ether. Bring on February, pancake flipping and all things loved up.
Great news, now you can have a proper nose round all the vans and the glampsite before you book. Check out our brand new video at the foot of the Newsletter for a virtual tour of the site. It really encapsulates the beauty, serenity and charm of Mad Dogs & Vintage Vans. Big thanks to Jay McLaughlin and Charlotte @ Betty Magazine for putting this together.
We were thrilled to be invited to speak on a panel at Country Living’s Build A Business Day in Bristol last week. 50 budding entrepreneurs attended the day to find out how to turn their hobbies and talents into a dream business. We took part in the ‘We Did It!’ session along with Emma who runs an events business in her converted barn in Devon. Here we are along with Fiona Davies from WiRE (Women in Rural Enterprise) and Suzy Smith, editor-in-Chief of Country Living magazine. Strongly recommend these days for any women who have an idea they’re yearning to get off the ground – a really well structured and inspiring day and lots of opportunities to meet like-minded women.
Birthday and hen party enquiries are coming in thick and fast. If you are thinking of booking the whole site for a family get together or any form of celebration we would urge you to get in touchasap. We are only able to hold back a certain number of weekends each season and once they’re gone, to state the bleedin’ obvious, they’re gone. We are here to help organise your weekend as much as you need us – from recommending and helping you book activities through to fine dining and organising surprise picnics by the river.
With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, our minds are turning to what we’d most like to be given – and for us a pampering holistic treatment is pretty much top of our list. If you’re staying with us this year or thinking of visiting, check out our amazing and unique Glamp ‘n’ Pamp offering. Choose from a menu of nurturing and deeply relaxing treatments including massages, reflexology and detox facials. And brand new for this year our fab therapist Flick now offers massages using hot stones – one stroke with a hot stone is said to be the equivalent of 10 with a hand. Treatments start from £30 and all are done here on site.
Won’t be long ‘til we’re pulling the covers off the vans and getting ready for the new season but for now we’ll leave it to poet and garden designer Vita Sackville-West to articulate, in a lyrical fashion, reasons for optimism out in the country:
“The shortest day has passed, and whatever nastiness of weather we may look forward to in January and February, at least we notice that the days are getting longer. Minute by minute they lengthen out. It takes some weeks before we become aware of the change. It is imperceptible even as the growth of a child, as you watch it day by day, until the moment comes when with a start of delighted surprise we realise that we can stay out of doors in a twilight lasting for another quarter of a precious hour."
