Team Member Spotlight: Tracy

I hate to break it to all of you UK fans (or U of L for that matter), but this bio needs to start with full disclosure that I am a HOOSIER through and through.  Even more…and I say this gingerly…I tend to root against UK when necessary because that is what Hoosiers are raised to do.  I was born in Indiana, raised in Indiana (Carmel), and attended Indiana University in beautiful Bloomington, Indiana where I was a Tour Guide Director for 3 years and witnessed the last years of Bobby Knight. Oh…I studied too; graduating with a Management Degree from the Kelley School of Business in 1997.

My first job out of college was extremely un-glamorous and taught me more than any other position since.  I was a District Manager for Aldi and was transferred to Louisville after training.  At age 24, I was responsible for overseeing operations for 5 stores and the opening of their location on Bardstown Road.  The work was grueling, the hours long, the responsibility overwhelming and I’m sure I was in over my head. Even now, there are nights where I have dreams that my pager—yes, pager—is going off with a store emergency. I was thrown in to situations that required me to “figure it out” and I learned much about what the business world was all about and where I fit in.  Fast forward to River Road Asset Management where I was hired to develop the Portfolio Analytics team and later became Director of Client Services.  This classy group of institutional money managers left a lasting impression about what a work place could be…challenging, generous, exciting, fun and a family.
With a heavy heart, I decided to leave River Road in order to reset my life and find a new balance between career and the single-mom world.  I have traveled, moved, tried to write a memoir (epic fail), guided my kiddo through his first 10 years, and started my own business working with senior citizens.  The path has not been straight, but rather divergent with beautiful opportunities for growth and reflection.  Now, with a solid feel for what matters most in my life, it’s exciting to find my values and ethics -- both professionally and personally -- align so well with those of the Gleason Group and all who work here.

I’ve known Gavin for over 10 years and he’s been my financial advisor for eight of them.  He’s always had a pulse on my career and when I began working with seniors on Medicare Options, our professional paths crossed and I began helping some of his clients as they approached age 65.  Once he approached me about joining the firm to add insurance and senior care support to his client service offerings, it was just a matter of working out the details.  In a corny and somewhat cliché way, I feel like all the professional experiences and risks I’ve had to this point were just preparing me for this.  Never have I felt so confident, peaceful, and clear-minded about a professional fit.  The Gleason Group is all about quality of life.  For clients and for employees.  And that message resonates in our actions every day.  I’m honored to be the newest member of this team and look forward to enhancing the experience for all who trust the Gleason Group with their investment needs.
