We hope you can enjoy a day filled with food, football, family and fun. And, of course, a chance to give thanks.
Here are some fun Thanksgiving tidbits to pass around the table this year:
  • Thanksgiving didn’t become an official national holiday until 1941. Before then, the holiday was announced by the president on a yearly basis.
  • Over 90% of Americans eat turkey on Thanksgiving; that’s around 7 billion pounds of turkey or $3 billion sold each year.
  • Turkey Day accounts for 20% of all cranberry consumption in the U.S.
  • Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird, not the eagle.
  • Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin's first meal in space after walking on the moon was foil packets with roasted turkey.
From our family to yours, we wish you and your loved ones a rich and wonderful holiday,
Gavin Gleason, President
