A Note from our Director

Happy New Year!
No, I have not lost track of what month it is; I know it is August and December is still several months away. However, as we prepare to welcome the beginning of a new semester at Champlain College, I am filled with the same eager anticipation for new beginnings that I have on New Year’s Day. With new students arriving soon to begin their college journey, coupled with familiar faces returning to the rhythms of our academic calendar, I am filled with a myriad of hopes and dreams for the school year ahead. At the Center, we are looking forward to expanding our AI Badge program for undergraduates, ongoing support of the World Positive Education Accelerator work, new educational offerings, and supporting the growing global AI Community. It is a New Year indeed! Sarah Ban Breathnach once wrote, “New Year's Day. A fresh start. A new chapter in life waiting to be written. New questions to be asked, embraced, and loved. Answers to be discovered and then lived in this transformative year of delight and self-discovery. Today carve out a quiet interlude for yourself in which to dream, pen in hand. Only dreams give birth to change” In the spirit of Appreciative Inquiry’s  Constructionist Principle, every day can be New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day if we choose to frame it as such…each day can be a fresh start, a new chapter, a new question to be asked. In that spirit, what fresh start are you looking forward to this month? What are you working to appreciatively accelerate in your own life and work?

Share it with us on social media if you like (our twitter is @DLCCenterforAI) using the hashtag #AppreciativeNewYear
