Thank You for Making 2019 A Great Year!

Your generous contributions of time, money, expertise and land filled 2019 with many successes for Legacy Land Trust Society.

Your most recent support of the Give Our Bluebirds Wings! campaign was overwhelming—you donated more than $5700!

Supporting Mountain Bluebirds means you're helping conserve their habitat along with the many other species that live there.

Some Highlights of 2019

  • Signed two new conservation easements (CE) covering about 250 acres, including one on the Mountain View County quarter known as the Campbell Pit
  • Held a Buttercup Blitz on Owl Ridge CE to help control invasive tall buttercups
  • Partnered with Rotary volunteers to build our first Mountain Bluebird Trail 
  • Continued ongoing discussions with landowners on the Red Deer River as part of our Water Quality & You program
  • Partnered with Mount Royal University undergrad students to help us address challenges such as weed management and species surveys
  • Presented school programs on native bees and their importance to the ecosystem
  • Conducted range and riparian health assessments on CE properties as part of our ongoing stewardship
  • Introduced our first Paint, Pen & Pixels program designed to introduce artists, writers and photographers to the beauty and importance of CEs
  • Held a calendar launch for photographers and Legacy supporters to celebrate our 2020 calendar
  • Featured guided trips along sections of Mountain Bluebird Trails at our Annual General Meeting (AGM)
  • Hired a Junior Environmental Conservation staff person for two months to help with monitoring and stewardship activities
  • Presented an Estate & Succession Planning workshop for landowners interested in CEs
  • Set up information booths at National Indigenous Peoples Day in Olds, Neighbours Day in Sundre, and several farmers' markets
