ZID Theater is currently busy with the preparations for the international festival ExploreZ. This festival is part of the European project Caravan Next and presents a varied, week-long programme by international and Dutch makers and local residents, from 12-18 December.
ZID’s new production Love will premiere then, there will be an extensive programme in the Amsterdam Public Library, you can take part in a theatre tour through Amsterdam West and New West, and there will be lots of workshops and theatrical presentations. Rembrandtpark festival
Our Tour of Love, a theatrical walk during the Rembrandtpark Festival on suday oktober 2nd, provides a sneak preview of the production Love, that will have its premiere at the Explorez Festival in December. The 30-minute tour visits surprising spots in Rembrandt Park and starts from the ZID tent at 14.00, 15.00 and 16.00, following a short introduction to the tour in the Love Tent. There is also a workshop ‘How to write a love letter’, by the poet Gökhan Aksoy and guitar player Martien Keesmaat.

Caravan Next
ExploreZ Festival is part of the European project Caravan Next. in the context of which we attended the Roots Festival on Crete, Greece, to present Sebo Bakker’s new programme The actor’s eye and a fast changing world. This week, the Belgarde International Theatre Festival takes place in Belgrade, Serbia, featuring our Theatre TOUR: Love and other demons. In collaboration with POD Teatar from Belgrade. This collaboration will be continued in December at the Explorez Festival (12-18 December 2016), when both companies will perform the production Love.

Love in The Hague and Amersfoort
Our Amsterdam actors have been working on the big new production Love for some time now. It is such a successful project that it will also be realised in The Hague and Amersfoort! Together with, respectively, the Laaktheater and Nieuwe Erven new groups of neighbourhood actors will be formed. Applications are pouring in and rehearsals will be starting soon. We look forward to get to know these new groups and spread our LOVE!

ZID Academy
At ZID Theater we produce various theatrical performances, in which local residents participate alongside professionals. These neighbourhood actors are being trained by professionals dancers and singers with whom they perform together on stage. ZID Academy is a platform for projects such as CultureGuides, StoryTellers and Neighbourhood Actors, which provide courses and workshops and opportunities for keeping in touch with other participants. At ZID Academy you will find support in organising cultural activities in the neighbourhood and you will develop skills that may come in handy in your everyday activities and work. New course for neighbourhood actors starts 6 October
Because of the huge interest for the course ‘Neighbourhood Actors’ we have planned another course!
It starts on 6 October and will take place every Thursday from 19.00 – 20-.30. During the course we work at performance techniques, movement and use of your voice. There is also attention to ensemble play, dancing and singing. Taking part in the training is free, but we do expect commitment: this means attending all the sessions and taking part in the actual performances. Apply by sending an email to academy@zidtheater.nl.
