Good Morning Campaign for Hoosier Families Members,
This next Wednesday, the House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee is likely to vote on Senate Bill 154, which would expand asset/resource limits for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. This bill is key to supporting the nutrition of Hoosier families and helping to raise the quality of life for low income households. Currently, the asset limits are $2,250 per household, SB 154 seeks to raise the asset limit to $10,000. SB 154 also would add that specific assets of an individual such as a certificate of deposit, funeral and burial funds, and a savings account of a dependent child, may not be counted toward the asset limit.

The Campaign for Hoosier Families supports Senate Bill 154 because it expands assistance for Indiana families that are in need. The House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee is chaired by Representative David Frizzell, other members serving on this committee are: Rep. Cindy Ziemke, Rep. Lloyd Arnold Rep. Anthony Cook, Rep. Dale Devon, Rep. Kevin Mahan, Rep. Julie Olthoff, Rep. Milo Smith, Rep. Vanessa Summers, Rep. Sheila Klinker, Rep. Joe Taylor and Rep. Melanie Wright.

Please write or call your state legislators and urge them to advocate with their fellow members to vote YES on this important piece of legislation. If you are unsure of how to contact your state legislators, click here:
